Rifka Several, WSA Chair
The minutes of the Council meeting will come later; this report is a summary of the meeting.
Following the latihan, we had a short meeting to approve signatories for a WSA bank account to be established in Portugal, for the 2028 World Congress, and to continue as a WSA European account.
There was approval to change the August Council meeting to August 22, because of traveling back from the Subud UK Gathering.
The Council voted to approve the 2025 WSA audited accounts.
July 17 – 25 Rungan Sari in-person Council meeting (see attachment)
The daily schedule of events was presented as a framework for the meeting. The key exploration through Bapak’s talks, discussions, and testing will be how to work together as a dewan, as Bapak envisioned.
The first two days will include Council kejiwaan sessions, and every day will start with latihans followed by a short gathering.
There are special events planned:
- A day with the local Rungan Sari Subud group, where the “Subud in the World” presentations will happen (WSA, ISC, affiliates, and some subcommittees) with time for questions.
- Festival celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Mhd Subuh Center and the 69th anniversary of the city of Palanka Raya. The mayor will attend, and traditional ceremonies will be presented, along with a tree planting. Ary Sutedja with JakArt will present an evening of classical and cultural music.
- Yayasan Usaha Mulia (YUM) is perhaps the longest-operating Susila Dharma project and celebrates 50 years of humanitarian service to infants and children, mothers and families, and communities. They will host a selamatan, and a cultural event.
- Yosef presented “Frequently Asked Questions” information for travel to and staying at Kalimantan (see attachment).
ISC office items
Archives Subcommittee: The Subcommittee is processing what needs to be done, looking at the different and new ideas. They are working on setting priorities and planning for the future. Subud UK has established a new WSA archive; WSA is funding the archivist.
June WCOT (World Congress Organizing Committee) meeting in Fatima: attended by 26 people, the meeting was very successful; the team is progressing professionally and harmoniously. The contract for the key hotel and space for latihan modular structures was signed – the hotel manager said she was pleased and honored to be a part of our Subud event. All milestones set are being achieved.
An important task for us all, who are able – individuals, centers, countries, and zones – to start raising funds for financial assistance so that those of all ages have the opportunity to experience and participate in our World Congress. WSA is coordinating the funds, and policies for assistance are being developed. Subud Youth International has a separate fund that they will manage.
Sharing sessions
- SDIA (Susila Dharma International Association): Mariallah Hugenholtz (SDIA treasurer) reported on the new Loretta Parshall Scholarship program; the funds are held by MSF, and SDIA formed a team of educators to do the application, evaluations and awards ($1000.00). Fifty applications have been received from Africa, Colombia, and Indonesia.
- SICA (Subud International Cultural Association): Hannah Baerveldt (SICA chair) and her team have reevaluated what is possible at the World Congress and withdrawn the “Culture in Motion” proposal.
- Lamberto Arevalo, zone 9 representative, reported that the MSF grants for the Buenos Aires and Santiago Subud houses were gratefully received, and the groups are working together to achieve the repairs. He said, “The Buenos Aires group has gained a new life. “The team for the November Gathering of the Americas (in Chile) is working well together, and the location and prices are better than expected. It is a beautiful place to meet.
We are blessed by being supported through member, enterprise, and zone WSA donations to be able to fund our yearly in-person Council meetings. The ability to work together and join for latihans and testing proves to be very effective. Thank you so sincerely!
A REQUEST: As we move forward to communicating with World Congress delegates to plan their program, please send the contact information of your country chairs to Yosef (wsa.secretary@subud.org).
Thanks so much!
